Spain's imports of fresh fruit and vegetables from Morocco reached €899.5 million in the first half of the year, marking an annual increase of 33% and reinforcing Morocco's position as the leading supplier to the Spanish market in terms of value. In terms of volume, imports also rose by 33%, reaching 377,842 tons, according to FreshPlaza. Over the past five years, purchases from Morocco have grown by 58% in value, rising from €571.4 million in the first half of 2021 to €899.5 million during the same period this year. In terms of volume, Moroccan exports to Spain also increased by 8% over the same five-year span, from 348,112 tons in the first half of 2021 to 377,842 tons in the first half of this year. Morocco remains Spain's top supplier by value and ranks second by volume, behind France, which exported 589,974 tons worth €254 million.
