DR ‹ › The Criminal Chamber of the Tangier Court of First Instance has sentenced TikToker Adam Benchekroun to three years in prison, along with a ten-year ban from using social media platforms. He has been granted a ten-day period to appeal the ruling. The verdict follows his conviction on charges linked to digital content that sparked widespread controversy. During the hearing, the Public Prosecution sought a heavier sentence, describing the acts attributed to the defendant as «dangerous» and arguing that they run counter to the fundamental values of Moroccan society. The civil party's defense also called for his conviction, requesting a comprehensive ban from all digital platforms and the closure of his social media accounts. In response, the defendant's legal team argued that their client was a minor at the time of the alleged acts and that no conclusive digital expertise had been presented to establish his responsibility for the circulated videos. They further claimed that Benchekroun had been exploited by adults and rejected accusations related to procuring individuals for prostitution and public indecency. The Public Prosecution charged Benchekroun with several offenses, including public indecency, defamation, incitement to commit a misdemeanor, and recording and disseminating images of individuals without their consent.
