DR ‹ › Morocco's General Directorate of Meteorology has issued an updated orange-level weather alert, warning of heavy, thundery rainfall, locally strong storm winds, and snowfall in several regions of the country from Sunday through Tuesday. According to the alert, heavy thunderstorms, with possible hail, are expected from Sunday through Tuesday. Rainfall amounts of 40 to 90 mm are forecast in Tangier-Assilah, M'diq-Fnideq, Fahs-Anjra, Chefchaouen, Tetouan, Larache, and Ouazzane, from 3:00 a.m. on Monday until 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Moderate to heavy thundery rain, ranging between 30 and 40 mm, is also expected in Kenitra, Taounate, Sidi Kacem, Taza, Ifrane, Sefrou, Meknes, Fez, El Hajeb, Moulay Yacoub, Al Hoceima, and Sidi Slimane, from 3:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Monday. The meteorological department also warned of locally strong storm winds, with speeds of 85 to 100 km/h, affecting Jerada, Figuig, Taourirt, Boulemane, Midelt, Guercif, Taza, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Fez, Meknes, El Hajeb, Oujda-Angad, Berkane, Nador, Driouch, Sefrou, Moulay Yacoub, Ifrane, Zagora, Taroudant, Tata, Tiznit, and Sidi Ifni. These winds are expected from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. Similar wind conditions are forecast on Monday, from 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., in Fahs-Anjra, M'diq-Fnideq, Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Taza, Guercif, Nador, Taourirt, Oujda-Angad, Boulemane, and Midelt. In addition, snowfall is expected in mountainous areas at elevations above 1,800 meters, with accumulations of 10 to 20 cm in Boulemane, Guercif, Taza, and Sefrou, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sunday. Authorities urge residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions throughout this period.
