DR ‹ › On Saturday, the Consulate General of Morocco in Madrid launched a mobile consulate in the province of Cuenca, located in Central Spain. This initiative aims to bring consular services closer to the Moroccan community living in this area. Cuenca is part of the Castile-La Mancha region, which lies approximately 171 kilometers from Madrid. This region ranks fifth in Spain in terms of Moroccan population density, with over 40,000 Moroccan residents. This effort is aligned with the proximity policy spearheaded by the Consulate General of Morocco in Madrid, benefiting the Moroccan community across Spain. It follows royal guidelines and directives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad. During this initiative, a range of consular services were offered, including the issuance of biometric passports, electronic national identity cards, and notarial deeds. Community members also received personalized support on administrative, social, and notarial issues. Many beneficiaries expressed their satisfaction with this initiative in statements to the MAP, noting that it spared them the hassle of traveling to the Spanish capital during the week to handle certain administrative tasks. Buoyed by the success of this operation, the Consulate General plans to organize additional mobile consulates in other regions as part of its annual agenda. The goal is to enhance the services provided to the Moroccan community where they live. This mission also provided an opportunity for Consul General Kamal Arifi to engage with representatives of the Moroccan associative network in the region, discussing ways to bolster cooperation and coordination in support of the Moroccan community abroad.
